IP geolocation
IP geolocation maps a network address to a registered place. Country is usually right. A city is a guess. A street is not in the data.

Metrics
Impression
An impression is one display of a creative or a widget. It is counted when the thing was served, not when a person noticed it.
1 min
Session
A session is a tool's bundle of hits from one browser into one visit, usually cut after 30 minutes of silence.
1 min
Bounce rate
Bounce rate is the share of visits that leave without a second tracked interaction. A high number is not automatically a failure.
3 min
Unique visitor
A unique visitor is one browser a tool tried to count once in a period. The same person on two devices is two.
1 min
Pageview
A pageview is one recorded load of a page. A reload counts again. It is not a person.

Traffic quality
User agent
The user agent is the string a browser or a bot sends to name itself. It is how you tell Chrome from a script, and it can be faked.

Traffic sources
Direct traffic
Direct traffic is the visits that arrived with no referrer. It mixes bookmarks, typed URLs, and hidden sources.
1 min
Referrer
The referrer is the previous page URL a browser may send when it requests your page. The header is spelled Referer.
